Going to PEDAL?

The bicycle film festival has been selling out, at least last night it did. I'm definitely gonna check out PEDAL on saturday.

pedal's pretty good. i won a copy from trackstar's mixtape thing. it's different than what i'd expected from the preview, but a more comprehensive look at NYC messenger culture than red light go. there's also a lot more active cinematography (i.e. actually riding on runs with the people in the film) in it than in red light, which was something i'd hoped for. my only complaint is fish-eye lenses... i hate fish-eye videography. there's no real story to pedal either, which actually made me happy. it's more of an impressionistic examination/homage to something that the filmmaker actually seems to sincerely appreciate. it's not really something where a linear narrative documentary would have been successful anyhow. dfntly worth checking out.

yeah, pre-ordrering is the only way to be sure you get a ticket. you can get tickets online. it gets really packed before the screening. we went to the festival in sf 2 years ago and my friend missed the warriors coz he waited to get tickets at the box office, there was a huge turnout for that one.

i'll be at the 7 showing tonight with randy and michele.

riding home from the 11pm showing last night was INSANE! as i left the film forum it was chill, no real rain. by the time i hit the manhattan br it was a monsoon. on top of the bridge it felt like people were throwing pebbles at my face, and i got hit so hard by a cross wind it slammed me into the fence. the wind was blowing so hard and it was so wet that i skidding out just trying to pedal against the wind. it was a good time though, and seeing as it was impossible for me to get any wetter, i just decided to ride around for a while in it and went and checked out the promenade.

So they stopped selling tickets online for tonight, anybody know if they sell them at the box office? And if so what time they open?

they do sell them at the box office for 8.50 if they are still available. i'd say get there at least an hour before the show.

That's what I thought. Went last night with online tickets, and it looked like a bunch of people were just bying them there. Was a little chaotic so it was hard to tell.

it's be interesting to do a side by side comparison though and see how much bigger your track bike actually is than the BMX.

an insider tip for tonight:

1) tonight's 7p + 9p shows are COMPLETELY SOLD OUT -- there will be none available at the door.
there may be some for 11p but don't quote me on that.

2) also, TICKET HOLDERS -- be advised to arrive early as possible as it'll be standing room only if yer late. no tears for the tardy.

awesome! i was a bit worried last night by what seemed like a pretty thin turn out. i was at the 11pm show though, so it wasn't full, but the crowd coming out of the 9pm didn't seem as big as last year. glad to hear they are still packin em in. i'll be getting there at 6pm
