Jumpin ships alleycat - chicago kid's results

So Cardstock and I drove down to Columbus Ohio for the Jumpinships alleycat. We came, we saw, and we kicked some ****ing ass.

Ben took first out of town, and I think 7th overall (out of a field of about 82) - he ****ing killed this city. Dude can ride like crazy.
And the big teadoggg won the skids in the rain, and on a super, super ****ty street riddled with potholes. Basically you had to sprint down this one road, make a 90 degree turn (in the rain at full speed) on to the skidding road, lock up going up a hill, and dodge massive holes in the pavement.

We dranks lots, talked to pretty ladies in a coffee house, rode the **** out of our bikes with shants & mlproject, and are bringing home some cool prizes. Ben is on the road back to Chicago right now, and i'm kickin' it in my parent's basement, back in Chicago wednesday.

Pictures will hopefully be up tomorrow.

Thanks Columbus for letting us win your ****, and thanks Shants for giving us the "reach-around", tickling our balls, and letting us sleep on your floor.

Not coming down to Cincy for our alleycat? For shame, you even get free admission with a spoke card from the 'ships. Guess we don't have enough kool prizes or skid comps.

I don't have a ride down there, and more importantly, I dont have a bike - Ben is taking it back to chicago for me, 'cause I'm rocking a bus trip on my way back to chi-town and don't have room for it.

i wish I could go, dude.

The Cincinnati kids decided to stick together and we made some stupid-ass navigational decisions. I think we all came in somewhere in mid-20th place. Not the greatest, but we finished the race unlike so many of the other entrants. I took a nasty little spill on High Street when I hooked my front wheel into a seam in the concrete. Somehow I managed to hardly even hurt myself or my awesome/horrendously ugly zebra-striped Domina Vacanze jersey. Just a bit of a scratch on my elbow and ankle. My Pneumo has a small crack in it though. Hooray for helmets, I guess.

I can't wait to see pictures from this.

Massive props for such an awesome time.

I'd like to thank teadoggg for "keeping me awake" on the drive down there!!!!

A few things I learned during my 24 hours (literally) in Columbus Ohio.

1. Shants is hot as ****. Thanks for giving me a couch to sleep on and having someone in the know to get me around the city. The favors you do are out of this world! His ford tempo rocks, and when we arrived he wanted to carry all of my **** from the car to the house. I mean every single bit.

2. I rode more hills yesterday than I have in a whole year of riding in Chicago. But alot of the time they really are not hills, just really long grades that go on forever.

3. If I ever want to go to a really sleezy bar, Bettys where we started, picked up our three different manifests and ended fits the bill. They have "thong Bikini Bartending" every friday from 3:30 till 6:30. And then they have the dance floor with the stripper pole. refer to the pictures after they get uploaded.

4. Steak and shake does not start serving breakfast until 4 AM. Why the hell cant you make me a god damn scramble and toast at 3:15 AM? They have sweet coffee mugs though, which I now have. really weird people work at a steak and shake just outside Indy really early in the morning.

5. I am really really tired..............but I cant seem to sleep anymore.

other points of intrest. Tristan got 2 flats, one right before the race and one right before the skid comp. The whole day took forever to get anythiing done. PBR is still really cheap in Columbus, none of this 2.50 for a can bull **** we have here. dollar cans baby (even though I really dont like PBR.) Going to a coffee shop during the afterparty, for coffee instead of hanging out in the smokey bar was a great idea (why the hell do you wait until midnight to hand out prizes when the kegs got tapped at 11ish?) Columbus' Streets are smoooooooth! I drank a can of PBR in record time at a checkpoint, it was fast, I had to so I did not loose the guys i was racing with, then swore I was going to puke, felt like **** for about a mile, told the guys not to ride right behind me cause I thought it was coming back and then did not puke. Thats it....heres pictures.

figures, Davey Rocket has won like the last 7-10 races here, he's one fast mofo on a bike, and all Nate does IS ride

how'd christy do?
how'd Ray from Best do?

prize-winning ****s:

1st - dave
2nd - nato
3rd - hopper
4th - justin*
5th - mason*

1st fixed - me (aaron)*
1st out of town - ben (cardstock)*
1st female - christy

* - justin, mason, ben, and i all came in at the same time

trackstands - schiedler
foot down - schiedler
skids - tristan (teadogg)

hopefully i'm not missing anything. i am not entirely sure about ray. he was riding with ian. i don't think that they were able to finish. it was a pretty long race and they cut off the checkpoints pretty early. a lot of people also bailed toward the end because the rain started. the wind was also extremely stupid. we came in right as it was starting to rain, which was awesome. although, we still got ****ed on the ride back home.
