Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fixed in Dallas/Ft. Worth?

Here in Dallas, all the shops I've been too all pretty much say the same thing when asking about fixed bikes, frames, track cogs, etc: "We can order it, but it's too niche to carry"

I've ridden a Pista and a Raleigh which were both great. But looking to ride or at least see some more vintage and newer (IRO, Soma, Surly, etc) fixies before I build my own.

Anyone around town?

Colonel's in Fort Worth carries Surly. They may have a steamroller built up. One of the employees, Tim, rides an ANT fixed gear. You should go ride that bike then order one. BLING!

The guys at Panther City can get steamrollers as well. So they may have one built up as well. It's worth a call. They are the nicest guys I've met in a bikeshop. They also have one of the nicest spaces for a shop.

Also, any bike in D/FW is a niche market. People hate cyclist there.

RBM in Frisco has Pista, Langster, Garneau (forget model), Lemond
Trek fixed gear rides. They also have some high dollar track iron,
Nago, BMC, IF to name a few.
they also speak fixed (since the velodrome is about 2 miles from the shop).

For as much as everyone whinges and moans about the cagers in Dallas
I've yet to have a problem in 5 years of riding here.
Frisco is pretty bike friendly with the Velodrome and all.

Awesome. I'll check out those places in FW.

Tons of bikes here.. most are just hardcore roadies or MTB's. Just go to White Rock lake any day of the week.
