Washington, DC on Sunday
Start: Sunday 3pm Malcom X Park.

it's supposed to be a series, so if you show up in Bmore, it won't be hard to find somewhere to crash afterword and a ride on to DC. it's mad fun.

btw- carleton- rules are established by the race organizer, and you won't know 'em till you get there.

Naw. I never race. Those Baltimore kids are CrAAaaZZy.

Last year, I heard a kid got his finger chopped off for missing a check point....then they made him go back and re-do the CP to get his detached finger back. For real.

I'll be there, tho.

Bikejam is on Saturday in Baltimore. Stupid name, great race. The Pro/1/2 race is at 2:30P, so if you're doing the alleycat you won't be able to catch that, but there's plenty of other racing going on earlier. https://www.bikejam.org

beware the bike jam.

last year Bega planned a "messenger category" that had a course featuring a path shaped somewhat like a balloon on a string, totally on the side of a hill. you start at the bottom and have to climb halfway up the hill on the grass next to the path (string part of the balloon) then you ride around the loop (straight up, then straight down) then cruise down the "string" part and lock up and get your manifest checked. The laps took about 2 min each. I was glad to have gears and a freewheel. I ended up just shifting to granny gear, pedaling up, and freewheeling down. It was brutal.

Bike Jam?!

Oh, man. Bike Jam is fun. I went in 2004. Lots of hot $3,000, $4,000, and $5,000 bikes racing in the men's and women's pro race on a tight course.

It sux that it's on the exact opposite end of the city from the Alleycat. Probably 5+ miles between the two.

Edit: I was there for 2004
