    Wake Up Detroit/Ann Arbor

Alright I've seen a few threads in the past but not much. The weather is nice and the biking events are starting.

    Upcoming Events:

    Tuesday June 6, 2006
Bike Race starting at Hart Plaza at 10PM. More information to come.

    Past Events
    Friday May 26 2006
Critical Mass Detroit. Meets downtown at Grand Circus Park around 5:30, rides around a bit and ends at Back Alley Bikes around 7:30 in time for:

Back Alley Bikes Movie Night: Showing PEDAL a NYC messenger documentary. Starting around 7:30 or 8. Back Alley Bikes is located on the corner of Cass and MLK Drive. Enter through the alley off of MLK.

If you come to these events, I'm on the red fixed gear. Say hi.

One of my co-workers participated in an alley cat in Detroit a few weeks back and had a lot of fun.

Good to see Detroit picking up the slack. When I lived there it was pretty dead.

Hurry it up so it'll be in time for 6/6/06! Back Alley Bikes is a bike co-op in Detroit, they're open for anything on Tuesdays from 6-9, if you need to use tools or anything. I'd recommend getting their as early as possible.

Not sure if AA has it's own co-op.

and Zero, yeah I wasn't able to make the last one (was still in Chicago) but I heard it went pretty well. Scavenger hunt style.

I have to buy the frame, and rebuild the rear wheel. Know anyplace around here that will build a wheel for cheap? I have been quoted 60 bones at a bike store in AA. How far is the co-op from Ypsilanti, I'm not too familar with actual Detroit.

Back Alley is probably around 40 miles from Ypsi. They'll do some work for pay (err donations), but I'm not sure if wheel building is one of those things.

Comercial shops I've used are American Cycle and Fitness and Continental Bike Shop. Not sure how much they'd charge to build a wheel, and again they are kinda far from Ypsi/AA.

Nope. Neither does Ypsi. Detroit's is the closest I know of.
