sloppy robot 05-26-06 04:16 PM

that is the ****in worst

mrRed 05-26-06 04:17 PM

my head hurts thinking about setting that chain tension.

sers 05-26-06 04:30 PM

interestingly enough that paint option is called "anal sex." they also offer have a flesh colored tube with white spray detail dubbed "MTBukakke"

trons 05-26-06 04:53 PM

dual drive is the worst idea ever ever ever

AfterThisNap 05-26-06 05:25 PM

someone please explain to me how left drive SS works.

seasponge 05-26-06 05:40 PM

someone please explain to me why bike companies name their products things such as "finger bangers" "anal sex" "bukakke" "strip bars" etc, especially bmx companies

Because 16-19 year old kids will buy them.

ka12na 05-26-06 06:03 PM

What's funny is maybe now about a year ago a thread was made with a bike like that. He claimed it was inefficient in comparison to single drive. The noobs are catching on later-- and they're only going to find that it sucks. :D

Anyone else notice they used vertical dropouts? Good work guys.

nitropowered 05-26-06 07:51 PM

it looks like it has an eccentric BB though

thurstonboise 05-26-06 07:53 PM

SS 29er = good.
Dual Drive is ********. 100+years of the saftey bicycle has proven that one chain is enough.

mattface 05-26-06 10:33 PM

I think I have a marketing slogan for them. "Dual drive. because Single speed mountain bikes aren't heavy enough"

Moximitre 05-27-06 08:50 AM

On their site they claim there is a torque advantage with dual drive. Sounds like BS to me.

thats a typo.. they actually meant "dork advantage"

OOhh.. ok, now it makes sense.

mattface 05-27-06 09:50 AM

you know what would be deck? Triple drive! A singlespeed with triple cranks, and 3 cogs on the rear cassette. All at the same ratio. It would have all the weight of a geared system with none of the mechanical advantage. Perfect chainline would be offset by 3 times the mechanical friction, and it would look SO BADASS!

trons 05-27-06 10:10 AM

you mean, 3 cogs and triples on each side.

mattface 05-27-06 02:13 PM

Nah all on the same side. if one chain is good 3 is better right? Right?

onetwentyeight 05-27-06 02:16 PM

double side drive with 3 chains on each side! 6 times the fun!

**** yeah. Now we just have to get Sheldon Brown to build it.
We know he searches the forums sometimes for his name so I'll just drop SHELDON and BROWN a couple of times here. You reading this, Sheldon? :D

LH threading on the left side of the hub, there are a few BMX hubs that have both left and right side threading for LH freewheels. I'm guessing they took one of these and respaced it.

For those who are hating on the design, there is a photo somewhere on the internet of a bike with 3 chains, all on the right side. Three chainrings, all the same size, and three cogs on a normal MTB hub with spacers.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, that was a bike a guy raced in the Iditabike up in Alaska. Something to do with frozen slush mucking up a single chain, so 3 chains are better.

Outside the arctic circle, though, it seems a bit overkill.

It would be cool to get a regular mountain triple - say, 24, 34, 44 teeth on the chainrings - and then have three different cogs on the back that make the gear ratios the same. Did I say cool? I meant dorky.

jyossarian 05-28-06 10:01 AM

Ah that's all crap. It's still rear wheel drive. I want a mtb w/ two wheel drive. That'd be useful. I mean useless.
