water bottle cage on a Bianchi pista?
Whats up, i need to install a water bottle cage on my bianchi. It has no provisions for a cage. I use a bag on my seat post so I cant use a time trial type. Any other ideas. Thanks Dave

profile design, i believe, makes a 2-bottle holder that attaches to yr seatpost and sticks backwards. i imagine that would be way easier to get than reaching between your constantly-moving legs on a fixed gear.

^^^yeah. i have that one too, but two bottles are actually quite noticably heavy. i took one of the cages off of that and put it on the single-cage minoura seatpost mount and it's pretty much a perfect compromise.

I just put the profile 2 bottle holder on my fuji. Vistor is right about the weight, it's heavy. At first I really didn't like it, but after 4+ hours of riding I was glad to have it.

Twofish makes a velcro-on water bottle cage. It doesn't work as well as a real bottle cage (sometimes it slips a bit), but it works well enough for the money. It comes with a bottle, too.

I used 'industrial' double sided tape and two zip ties that are the same color as frame. It is barely noticable and holds very well.
After 6mo. took off zip ties and the tape alone was very secure.
Separating the tape was not easy to remove it when I eventually did.

to address CCCCCCC's comment...
it can be foolish to ride without water, especially when it's hot and humid. and most people absorb water at a rate roughly 2 ounces every fifteen minutes. anything more than that passes right through you. so though you may be a camel, you're not staying hydrated by chugging a liter before you go out for a long ride.
from a med standpoint, hydration is very important. it will keep your body running at a higher level, which is nice for when you're biking. and when it's hot, it will help ward off heat stroke, which is fatal, and heat exhaustion, which really sucks. when it's cold, staying hydrated helps your body retain heat. i never ride without a pint of water in my bag, and i refill at every opportunity.

Talk to a mechanic friend, and tap some holes sue you can screw it on. Takes about 5 minutes to do. Or you can pick up a tapping kit from Home Depot, do it and return the kit the next day.

if you're trying to get him just to tap a couple of threads into the frame tubing you're nuts. there's no way in hell that tubing is thick enough to do that.
now, if you're telling him to drill a couple holes and press in some nutserts/rivnuts, sure. that's exactly how just about every other h2o boss is mounted.
and as far as returning used tools (especially cutting tools), you're a dirty dirty person.
