Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Mormons on FG's?

I saw some riding today on mt bikes... It inspired my 2006 halloween costume.

helmet, white shirt, black pants, backpack

btw two of them road my brother off the road while they were riding toward him.. he ended up getting two flats because of thorns.

they even ride the same style worldwide...all the mormons i see around here (japan), also ride crappy mountain bikes with generic white helmets (along with their universal white shirts/black pants/backpacks)!

According to one mormon website I found:
Missionaries travel on foot, by public transportation, by bicycle, or in mission cars, assigned at the mission president's discretion based on the distances missionaries must travel and other circumstances.

If cars are ok, then fixed gears must be.

DUDE, mormons DO NOT EXIST. They are a figment of your imagination. Utah is nothing but a gigantic mirage in the middle of the desert.

Not to be a downer to yall's little internet fun picking on people you don't know, but this thread couldn't be more ignorant and childish. I'm personally not for organized religion, but you know what? thats my business and its not my place to push it on people. This forum should be the last place where someone should come and have to worry about being discriminated against or hated on. People face enough hatred based on their religion, race, ethnicity and sex already when they walk out their front door. Why do you guys have to be the dicks that shell it out on the internet too? Bicycles people; it's what we're here for. For fukcs sake.

actually, a diy fixie would be really good for a mormon. I think they have a $400 limit on the bikes they can own

You're right; and their beliefs are their business and it's really not their place to show up on my doorstep and try and push it on me. And there are apparently enough people who feel the same way as I do, that when Mormons are brought up on the internet they take a little bit of heat.

The coolest thing about the internet, though, is that if a thread pops up with content you don't agree with, you don't have to partake in it! You can just skip it, and read the other threads!

My wife is Mormon and the missionaries come over once a month for dinner. They are cool guys who have always respected the fact that I am not "a member". Anyway, whenever they come over I show them my bike stuff and I tinker on their bikes if they need it.

Last week I was outside working on the Pista when they pulled up. They were interested in it so I let them take it for a spin and they loved it.

So I guess the whole point of this is, yes the missionaries can ride fixed.

i was friends with a mormon in high school. she was HOT and really walked the straight and narrow all through high school. then suddenly in 12th grade she seemed to realize she was about to go to BYU and would probably get married at 19 or 20 (she did) and this was her last chance to get freak nasty so she did. senior year she partied her ass off and got dirty.

thats cool. I bet that once we arrive at the post-apocalypse JW wonderland (where we get to pet tigers and stuff), people will ride bikes. and they will never go flat, and phil hubs will grow on trees.
