IRO XL-240 Rims
There was some brief talk about these rims in a prior thread. What do we know about them? How do they compare to the other IRO offerings?

Quando and IRO is kind of a rough comparison. I've never met anyone who is as loyal to Quando as people on these forums are to IRO, myself included.

highpants, i think lunigma was being kinda rhetorical, about taking something that's extremely well-known as a quality piece of equipment, and branding it with some unknown name.

so has anyone tried these new rims out yet? I went to the site today, cause I want to order a wheelset, and blamo! no aeroheads? I'm a bit weary of something that doesn't have a manufacture name to research...

I definately trust him, I have been running a set of IRO wheels with aeroheads for over a year now, with no problems. but it's still an issue of I don't know who the manufacture of the rim is.
I think I'm just gonna e-mail him and get a quote for what I want...

i'd be willing to bet they're rebranded velocity. tony has been outsourcing wheelbuilding to velocity for quite some time. i doubt that he would risk relying on another manufacturer and another wheelbuilder.

Does anyone know if one could still get the aerohead wheelset through IRO? I remember the set use to cost $184 . . . although, i'm sure they would be charging more now...
I only see the rear Aerohead for $105
EDIT
Nevermind; I found the Velocity Aerohead Wheelset in the "Buy Direct" section. They are $199 . . . and that's the way I'm gonna role.

My new wheels.
Here is the scoop. As we all know the price of stuff just keeps going up. I wanted to keep my base wheelset price the same. The price of aeroheads were getting a bit steep. I searched for rims that would be as tough as the aeroheads but still priced right. The only way I could do that was to bring my own rims in.
I did my homework tested a few different rims and came up with the one I am using now.
The Rims are manufactured by Kinlin. It is there model XL-240.
There is no one better to test the rims than myself. At 240lb I can beat the snot out of just about any wheelset. I didn't try to avoid ruts and potholes in the road. They held up well after 2500 miles. No problems the rims are still round and true. A few bike have gone out of here with the new wheels with the understanding if there was a problem with them to just let me know and I would replace them. I didn't have any come back.
So it's production time. Where else better to get the wheels built than Velocity. The wheels are hand built by Velocity USA. Same place all our other wheels are built.
But why stop there.
I am willing to offer a set in silver and a set in black to be tested by you folks. I am willing to send a set out to you and let you ride them for 2 weeks. When your time is up just send them back and I will send them to the next person looking to ride the wheels.
If you are interested just send an email to aportera@irocycle.com and we can get things started..
All the best.
Tony
