Brooks love!!!
I was talking to a friend last night who is convinced that Brooks saddles are obsolete, impractical, and relics of a bygone era- I couldn't disagree more. I've got about two thousand miles on my B17 and would never think of riding anything else. Who out there still joins me in riding one of these fine leather masterpieces? What models? What are your opinions?

I have a black team pro on one of my bikes and like it a lot. They are comfy as hell once they break in.
|
the b-17 on my iro is god. the professional on my IF is gettin' there. believe the hype!:) :) :)
|
I ride a B17n on both my fixed and road. I've seen some straight carbon saddles that seem like they might be a good replacement for a brooks, but they're in the $300 range.
|
I bought a a B-17 last week and it's hard, but the shape awesome - narro but really wide in the back so my sits are actually resting on the seat, not hanging over as with my 12cm wide mongoose eBay find that looked cool but ow!
The brooks is still polished and a bit slippery, I'm not so worried about breaking it in as I don't do super long rides (yet), but I hope I stop slipping around. So far, I love it. And it looks great. |
They feel great and look sharp. A lugged frame and a Brooks saddle will never be obsolete.
|
My B17. 3000 miles, on its third bike. Needed no break in, no padding.

What's w/ all the Brooks threads? Shills? There've been Brooks threads recently in Commuting, Roadie, General and I don't even look in all the forums on BF.
But now my $0.02. I just ordered a black B17 for my mtb beater/commuter/crap-weather ride. The old Specialized BG just rubbed me the wrong way yesterday when I rode it for the first time in months after riding my honey B17 exclusively. And I've had the Spec BG for almost 10 years now. I'm spoiled by the Brooks after initially being somewhat skeptical that a saddle could be that comfortable. Now the B17 will be the most valuable thing on that bike next to the new cyclocomp. |

All my bikes have Brooks. This is the Professional on my Cinelli.
|
I've been on the Brookseses for 15 years. There was a time when I'd go back and try something else, but once you get used to the ass hammock, nothing really ever feels good again. They look great, weigh a ton, and every one I have feels like "mine". Proper.
|
i didn't get one until i was like 22, 'cause i couldn't afford one before then.
have a b17, and a champ special i'm a total brooks evangelist. |
