I really don't want to bother Tony with tons of questions, so does anybody know if this rumor is true. I've been trying to find an affordable frame for the 5' girlfriend and it's tough.

the 50cm frame will very likely be too big for a 5' person, even though it's got a s/t 46cm center-to-center. i'm 5'5" and my 50cm is close to fitting right, but not quite.

bikeforums knows less about tony's plans than tony does. he runs a business, he's used to fielding questions about his business.

somebody recently started a small bike thread. fuji makes a small track model w/ 650c wheels ( https://velospace.org/node/142 ). old steel mtb's can probably be really worthwhile conversions.

yep i've been searching for a frame for my gal who's 5'1" and theres not much. for her anything over a 50cm toptube is basically too big. everyone has frames that go down to 52cm tt's but shorter is hard to find w/out going custom. bianchi has the san jose in a tiny size but as far as i know they don't sell it as a frameset. oh yeah the fuji se also comes really tiny but with 650c's.
anyone else have any possibilites for sub 51cm top tube rigs?

also, just keep your eyes open. a friend of 4'9" found a 38cm frame recently and is building it up with 24" wheels. it's an old schwinn, but one of the better ones. sometimes you have to take what you find, it seems.

oh, and the bikes for short people thread probably has to do with that, i started a couple a little while back to try to help this friend out. it's called "question for the short people" or something like that.

If the small wheels are keeping you from it, you might be on a fruitless quest. A 46cm bike with 700c wheels would have all kinds of problems, especially if you want the TT as short as the ST. That's why most of them have the 650c wheels.
