Porter Square: on a black fixie wearing a black manskirt
Fashion seems to come up a lot on this forum, from shants to what constitutes metrosexual cyclist attire. Yesterday, I saw a dude waiting at the light outside the Porter Square T station. All black (taped) fixed bike, wearing a black skirt (kilt, one might say, but I'll call it a manskirt). I'm wondering what you'd wear under that skirt. Tight bike shorts, in my opinion, would cancel out all the great benefits of wearing a manskirt. Are you on this forum, sir? Any other manskirters who can enlighten us on the joys/pitfalls?

ALthough traditionalists would skoff, I wear boxer briefs under my utilikilt usually. preferably dark colored ones. My kilt is a bit shorter than the traditional ones, and not everyone wants to see my dangly bits. So I wear undies out of common courtesy.

I personally think kilts are hot, if the guy has nice legs. And riding a fixie I assume he would. Yay, kilts!

My buddy wears a kilt when he rides sometimes. I thought he was trying to be a fashion queer (part truth) but he said the kilt actually has a purpose. It lets all of you breath, keeps things fresh down there. He used to get bad rashes from riding alot but doest get anymore. On the downside he now gets cat calls from truck drivers.

Will resting your moist tackle on a brooks saddle cause it to break in any sooner?

As a practical matter, how does wearing a kilt/skirt/whatever work out in the saddle? I've got a Mountain Hardwear kilt that is the best thing ever for hiking, but it seems like I'd be flashing people left and right riding in it...
