cool bike shorts?

hey all,
i'm looking to see if the hive mind can conjure up some good bike shorts. i'm looking for something baggy but not floppy baggy like the ****ing surfer ******bags wear... something sorta tapered, sorta stylish. with pad or without pad doesn't matter, but i want to be able to not just to wear it to some fancy dog boutique in the suburbs but actually out to bars and look presentable (yes, i know you can wear *anything* out to bars, etc etc but help me out here)
thanks for any advice,
bikey

Nylon shorts don't equal "presentable" in my book. Chrome and Rapha shants are decent looking, but for what they cost they had better be.

I just think the whole concept of "casual" cycling wear is dumb. If you're going to ride long distances, rock the spandex. If you're riding a few miles to the bar, roll the pants up and roll em' down when you get there. To 95% of the general public you still look like a geek just for riding a bike, so why spend money trying to impress them?

Pearl Izumi used to sell a padded liner short that could be worn with regular pants or shorts. I would look for something like that.

I just gave a gift certificate for a pair of UTW pants to some people, you can buy a raffle ticket or something to try to win them if you want, or a skirt if that's presentable to ya

...unfortunately I have no URL for you yet, though it should be here anytime...

I saw someone else post these, never got any but that person did and loved 'em:

https://www.bicycleclothing.com/Mens-Touring-Shorts.html

I think it depends on how many miles you ride, I wear anything besides jeans/jean shorts for under 10 miles, 10-20 I wear tight lyrca running shorts with mesh shorts over it, and 20+ I'm wearing bike shorts not matter how stupid/gay/lame/OCP I look like

i like how chicago wig even tells you how they make their knickers. if i had the money to do that (or if they had any for sale on ebay) i might get them, but i'd much rather buy some dickies for $10.00 at kmart and use my mom's sewing machine.

I dig backpacking/hiking shorts from people like Mountain Hardwear or North Face. Also, the UTW shants are 100% kickass, look nice, and are durable as f*ck. Highly recommended.
