I don't particularly like living in Denver, but most people here love it. It's really good for cycling because there are lots of trails/paths and drivers are mostly respectful (in the city, at least; the suburbs are a different story). I always see tons of people on bikes, especially right now (during the summer). Personally, I would stay in Seattle or move to another bigger city. Denver's too small, there's not a lot here.

if you're going to live in the middle of the country, i think denver is one of the best options for a big non-coastal city besides chicago. and it's probably cheaper than seattle. if you want to move to where the roads are almost always dry, come to denver. guess it depends on what you're looking for.

i like denver a lot, though i personally wouldn't want to live there... riding in metro denver is a blast. also, denver is only a 60 minute drive from a great velodrome with races twice a week.
you can ride all year round. weather on the front range is very mild. so it never snows too much or is too hot or rains too much, etc.

Apparently it is illegal to have pitbulls in Denver County so I would have to actually live a bit outside the city.
Anyone know if they actually enforce this? What if there is half and half blood?

fantomas, it's pretty strict i guess. i remember that dog thread awhile back and remember what your dog looked like... it seems if a dog possesses physical traits of a pitbull, which your dog does, then it's a suspect.

the correct pronunciation is DEN-VAHHHHHH. don't know much about the pit bull ban, but i think aurora has one too. denver is pretty cool, but culturally it's a bit blah. seattle's more interesting, but i've heard the winters there are harsh....not with cold temps, but with constantly cloudiness and rain. the summertime trips i've taken there there have been awesome. anyhow, back to denver. the winters here aren't at all harsh like some people seem to think. when it snows here, it's usually gone by the next day or so. bike paths are cool although i wish they were better connected. don't know how they compare to other cities. if you ski/snowboard, the winter traffic here is MURDER on weekends. it's actually caused me to snowboard less and ride my bike more. hope that helps....

I'm not gonna get into detail too far but...
Depending upon your personality living in any city long enough can turn it into a small town.
Kinda just time to move on and be annonymous somewhere.. I have a few close friends in Philthy and a few in Denvahhhh.. So, trying to get peoples opinions. Harsh winters in Denver cannot be any worse than Philly.

The winters in Denver are not that bad. The city is really good about clearing the streets so mostly there isn't even that much ice on the roads. I mean, it is still winter, and cold, and snowy, but it's not Fargo or something. Also, you should check out eleventooth.com. It's a Denver messenger site and they put on alot of races and fun events. There is a Critical Mass ride the last friday of every month meeting at 5 at Civic Center Park in front of the capitol building. If you come down to Boulder I put on free races every couple weeks, nothing too serious but lots of fun. PM me if you want more info.

i have been living in d-town for about a year now and ****ing love it. i don't know about harsh winters...i ride all winter long. if it snows the sun comes out a few hours later and melts everything. i've heard that it's one of the most bicycle friendly cities, and can agree with that.
critical mass may be the only exception. the cops are dicks, follow us around and issue tickets for every small traffic violation.

I hated my very short time in Denver. It was the whitest, most boring "city" I'd ever been in.
The streets were well-paved though.

well just to add to the subject. my lady friend and i have basically been in denver going on three years now from seattle (queen anne). anyhow its great here weather wise. although some days i just want a good rain so i dont have to make excuses to sit on my ass and watch golden girls. musically this city stands next to seattle in creating its own underground scene. underneath that lies a really great sound only denver artists have been able to create. great intimate venues all over. at least thats whats kept me occupied. oh yeah and i havent been run over once yet whilst riding.
