freewheel help

I'm working on a new single speed project. An old Raleigh vintage steel frame. I want to go single speed and can get a wheelset with a rear that is a screw-on freewheel....6speed. If I get one of the screw on singlespeed cogs like a Shimano do I need to use any spacers? If so are they special spacers or just anything. I have some cassette single speed spacers left over from my last conversion. Will they work?

You confused me. What's a "singlespeed cog"?
Are they the same thing as the sprockets that comes on the 6 speed freewheel?

read this https://sheldonbrown.com/singlespeed.html

I think by "singlespeed cog" the OP means a BMX freewheel. If so, the OP will have to respace the hub in order to get a decent chainline, and then probably redish the wheel. Read everything on the sheldon brown website, and think on it.
