Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

From all the previous threads I'll give you a run down:

Somewhat durable (no reports of coming massively out of true after street use)
somewhat light weight.
44mm chainline (non standard)
French threaded lockring

buy em or else cane creek volos. Check bikebiz, they had either volos or ellipses on sale a week ago.

i had to decide on my upcoming wheel purchase as well. the mavics and the volos are similarly priced. i'm springing for the volos, unless i can find some hed3's on ebay before then. the heds would get me lots of funny looks, but damn...
