it keeps the top tube from getting scratched when you lean it against objects for locking it up

When carrying your bike easier on the shoulder, leaning against things, sitting on. So on, so on & so on.

I've wrapped a little over a foot of my top tube with the same tape as on my handlebars.
I feel better about leaning it up against things.
I also pick up the bike with one hand on the bar tape, like when going through gates and the such; and, it feels better on the shoulder when I carry it.

How durable is the clear frame protector tape? I've heard varying accounts of how well it actually functions...

can't speak for clear, but cloth bar wrap or hockey tape works great. too bad it won't work with my new paint job...
clear would be the way to go, but isn't it about as illogical as putting a bra on a car?

i just got a mini top tube protector, and I wish I had always had it. I swap it out to the downtube that I throw over top of the bike racks I lock to all day long at work, so i dont' mangle the paint on the underside. Then when I ride, I put it back on the top. Great for shoulder carrying or sitting on the top tube.
