So i just built up my fixie last week and got some new pedals and toe-clips/straps. Cant use the straps though cuz its just impossible to get my feet into them, i have them loosened all the way and it still doesnt help. Ive tried a couple diffenrent pairs of shoes from my running shoes, to my newer style converses and no difference. Is my foot just to wide? I wear a size 12-13 depending on make, do they make longer straps or should i get narrower shoes/ cycling shoes...

they make different sized clips. straps all run the same size.. you must have some monster feet, i know people who ride in skate shoes. I wear size 11 adidas and have no problems..

bikes (and fixed gears are no exception) can be full of maddening little tricks to learn, but once you get them down they'll feel like second nature.

edit: i absolutely HATE running shoes for bike riding. too thick, too squishy. indoor soccer shoes are popular because they have thin soles and a lot of sensitivity on the top up by the toe (where the clip sits is the same area as where you kick a soccer ball).

Yeah i got the XL MKS clips and the christophe leather straps... guess ill keep practicing while looking for a narrower shoe. Any shoe suggestions, preferably a tennis or casual style shoe, something i can wear to work and school...

as cliche as they may be, old school pumas and sambas both work well for me. if you're looking for something that's not one of those two, aisics just came out with tigers in a bunch of colors.

ive never had a problem with straps being too short, but i did have a problem with metal cages. my bike came with plastic ones, which i tried to upgrade to metal, but they always felt like they were smashing my toes. i had to swap em back after a day or two. i have pretty big feet (12 1/2) but still...i had the XL MKS cages, it should have been fine.

Well thanks for all the replies, i found a pair of shoes i had laying around that will work until i go shopping for some pumas or sambas, like both styles so ill have to go shopping and pick a pair out..

I also get a lil pushing feeling on my toes from the clips, im just gonna try to pull the fronts up a lil...

even with smaller shoes, it's gotta be an issue of short straps or something. my feet are larger than yours, i wear some semi-chunky nike p-rods, and i still have extra strap to spare. if you want new shoes, you can use this as an excuse, but new straps would be a lot cheaper.

Yeah iunno what it was but i have a pair that has a thin sole and are skinny that work good, kinda wierd all my other shoes wont work but whatever... time do update the collection...

edit: straps are brand new christophe leathers...

i didn't mean to tell you that the problem is your shoes. you can bend the clips into the shape that best fits your foot (whatever shoes you want to wear).

as far as strap length, if you can get in and out easily, and still pull up on them when you need to power up a hill, you're golden.
