So, two weeks ago a fat **** jumps out into the bike lane and as I swerve to avoid hitting him my wheel catches on something and sends me and my bike flying. My bike landed ontop of me, which is kind of good because she is unscathed, but I fractured my pelvis in two places and have been in a wheelchair for two weeks and just found out yesterday I'll probably be in it for another four! Four weeks of no walking (and more importantly, to me, NO riding)= me going out of my mind!

I would like people to post things/stories that will make me feel better about my injury (please avoid the obvious "you're lucky you're alive" line, I know I am and thank god for percocet because living would SUCK right now without it) OR names of books I should read or movies I should watch. My family was so totally appalled by the fact that I was living dvdless that they pitched in a bought me a dvd player AND in my boredom I have researched/learnedabout/set up a NetFlix account!

I ruptured my Achilles Tendon in Feburary (playing basketball). I didn't ride again until June. And even then, it was painful as f*ck. I still have a limp.

as far as stories, i am typing this right now while having my left leg bent continuously for 6 hours a day by a 40 lb machine as a result of a bike accident 3 months ago (completely destroyed my knee -- tore three ligaments to various degrees, damaged the meniscus, bruised bones, just got surgery last week).

On the upside, pelvic fractures often heal with no residual impairment. A friend of mine got squished when a horse fell on her and she's fine (and there is some research that supports my previous statement more than anecdote ). Video gaming is a good escape for me. I'm a little behind and kind of partisan to make recommendations, but God of War and VirtuaFighter Evo have eaten up a fair bit of my life. Okay, now I'm depressed....

when i was out of the game for a week after my only major accident, i spent all of my time zonked out on pain meds, playing grand theft auto.

watching dvd box sets of tv shows can kill an afternoon or two, or three, or many more depending on the show... just get that 14-disk monty python's flying circus boxed set and you'll be good to go.
