I need glove reccomendations?
 

So maybe I came in on the shortbus cuz' I searched for "gloves" threads and came up with nothing. I need some new gloves that offer good padding, full finger preferably. There are some Pearl Izumi that I've seen that have a good amount of padding and liked a lot. So those of you who rock or have reccomendatins/links for full finger gloves sound off por favor!

Probably the most popular and best no-frills full finger glove: Answer Impact. I like it myself. It's for spring/autumn, when it's just a bit too chilly for bare hands. Not much in the way of padding, though.

REI has a pretty wide selection, including Cannondale, Fox, Descente, and PI, as well as their house brand. I've got an older pair, REI label that I like fine when it's too cool for fingerless.

who's the fashion victim here then? i've used both, have you? izumis lasted less than a month, 30 EUR down the drain.

i'll prefer function over cool points. in this case rapha(read: leather) delivers, canvas doesn't. pretty simple..

should be mentioned though, mine are the 65 EUR ones not the 135 EUR which, no doubt, is overpricing/consequence of the use of unnecessary expensive leather.

bottom line for OP, buy quality leather gloves.. like you would on a motorcycle.

Specialized.

Nike winter cycling gloves with the tacky palm and index finger. They are the best I've ever owned (or even tried on for that matter.). They are wind and water resistant. Plus they are thin and pretty low-profile so you don't have to remove them to stick your hand in pockets or bags and whatnot. Still warm as you would expect, but hands don't sweat.

Plus, they don't look all crazy. They are all black with a white swoosh. I wear them as regular winter gloves and have actually gotten compliments. I know people who don't cycle that wear them.

The palm and first two fingers are very tacky for gripping handle bars and brake levers/shifters.

I wore mine all last winter and they look almost new after several months of use.

Around $40-50. Pricey but worth it.

Also, the velcro closure is high up your wrist. If you were wearing a watch, it would cover it. This is cool because there is no gap between your glove and sleeve for wind to get in.

i figured out that already but.. how about durability, especially at full speed crashes. how about perfect fit? How about superior grip?

they're also the only gloves i've had that allow using cloth tape.

then again, i'm just bitter because i'm not loaded enough to bother with buying low quality shlte.

Pearl Izumi Carbon Pittards. Try some on at your LBS, find the one that fits nicely (not too snug, easy enough to get off) and buy the next size down. They'll stretch with use, and then shrink a bit after washing. Oh, and don't use liner gloves with your half-fingers that you'll want in the summer - they stretch your gloves like no other. Trust me on this one.

Pearl Izumi is def my favorite, but if I had the coin I would go with the raphas in a heartbeat. Like a crappy bib or pair of shorts, gloves are one of the most easily noticed points of clothing discomfort for me. It's worth it to pay the extra dough and get something that you can wear for many miles and not notice.

nice but the thing with raphas is that they feel like second skin instead of gloves because they'll stretch out to the shape of your hands

Find a shop that carries Trek (they have them here in Bermuda). Nike and Trek have some sort of deal going on. So, any bike shop that carries Trek will also be able to order Nike clothing and accessories.
