Help me buy some crank arms

Okay so I'm new to the singlespeed thing and it's all a bit baffling to me. What I'm confused about is the spacing and lining up of the chain. I need to get longer crankarms for my Capo (I know I know some of you think it's poseur, but I love this bike) and I can't figure out which ones will work. I can't even figure out what kind of BB this thing has on it, so I don't know if I could do octalink or ??? I've replaced the thaeta crap with black 105, so I'd like to get black 105 crankarms as well. This bike came with junk for components, so I basically paid $350 for the frame, fork and wheelset. Everything else has been swapped
So any suggestions for cranks that'll work for me?? Thanks! Oh yeah and I'm looking for 172.5... and I don't want to pay more than $65.

Basically, you want to end up with a crankset and bb combo that gives you a 42mm chainline. If you're pricing yourself for eBay, first obtain cranks that you like, then figure out what size BB you need. Sheldon's site has a database of many cranks and what chainline the matching BB gives you - www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html - subtract from there. You're going to have more budget options if you go the square taper route, and you should be able to get a good price since you're looking for something bigger than 165s.

The $65 ceiling really limits your options for anything new.
Sugino RD are pretty close to that as are the IRO cranks.

172.5 is pretty long.

I went with a 110mm UN-52 BB ($20) and some bulletproof/dotek cranks ($30) for a 42mm chainline. Add a rocket ring ($10) and you have a ghetto-fab crankset. Ta-Da!

Chuck's Bikes has some Shimano 105 Square Taper style Cranks in 175 for $30. I was tempted to buy them just to have around for the next time I needed a decent road crank.

P.S. They also have the Octalink ones in 170, and 172.5 for $50

The capo's stock BB is of the square taper era. You can find DA crankarms (that would work on the stock BB) on ebay for about $75. I purchased a set of NOS dura ace 7400 170mm cranks for $75; it included a used square taper BB, but I have no problems with the one that came stock.

But if you want Shimano in black cranks, you will need to go with the 105's as you noted. I am not certain that they were made with the square taper setup, so you would have to replace the BB.
