Paragon slider dropouts

I know i'm a little behind on this, but i was just looking at pictures of the ANT bike from interbike and noticed the sliding dropouts. Anyone know what the benefits of these are. It seems like it would be heavy and not really all that beneficial. Perhaps I should have asked about this in the framebuilders forum, but I'm curious from a ss/fixed perspective.
Also, does anyone know of a pedal similar to the ones that were on the vanilla cycles tricycle? They look so nice.

the sliding dropouts are so you dont have to adjust the disc brakes every time they take the wheel off. pretty sweet looking too if you ask me.

It has to do with allowing chain tension adjustment and removing/replacing the wheel without having to fiddle with the disc brakes.

That makes sense. I've never dealt with disk brakes, so I didn't think of the problem of caliper/disk issues. They do look kinda sweet, and they are titanium. Though I'm not sure why you would need disk brakes on a commuter frame.

Pedals? Anyone?

Even if you don't have discs, it eliminates setting the chain tension after changing a flat, though that is a trivial hassle at best.

The pedals (along with a lot of other things on that trike) are probably one-off's. Phil Wood helped a lot on that piece, I heard.

sliders come in steel too.

as for the pedals, they're custom cages on a WTB Momentum Grease Guard pedal

I'd bet those cages would be available for anyone ordering a bike.
