42mm Chainline Q
I just got an Angus coming, and to match my 42mm chainline, what crankset/bb combo do it go with? On Sheldon Brown's site, he says 103mm bb would work with the Sugino RD (maybe the Messenger ones too would work?) but I was told the Sugino 75's would be a solid bet.
I've done a search, but still a little confused. Thanks ahead of time for reading this.

Pick whatever cranks you want, and then get the appropriate BB length. Simple.
Sheldon's site has a great database of chainlines for various cranks.

sheldonbrown-->singlespeed/fixed parts-->cranks... he says what cranks they sell and what length bb spindle to get 42mm chainline (or somewhere close).
then, go get yourself the appropriate BB. shimano's UN-52 or -53 BB is a good, affordable choice.
how much do you want to spend on cranks? bulletproof cranks, and sugino RD's are common choices. you can also look on ebay for good deals on Shimano 105 or 600 cranks--just make sure that they're square-taper (the BB spindle - crank interface) as opposed to any splined interface like ISIS or octalink or whatever it is they use.
i use stronglight cranks with a TA chainring and like them, especially considering how much i paid.
