Will this BB still work?
This frame cracked at the bottom bracket, was repaired and now looks like this. Do you think the bottom bracket will still work? I do love me some ritchey...

doesn't look like you could fix it with duct tape, so I'll say no.

I would stay away. The bottom bracket is trashed, if the frame was repaired properly the bb shell would have been replaced.

I wouldn't spend more than $1 on it. Could make for a fun beater. Fun in sense of "I wonder if the bike will fail on this ride?"

I wouldn't mess with this one. You could get it chased properly or whatever, but I still wouldn't trust it knowing that the damage was done to it like that.

Oh yeah, and if you're going to get it rethreaded or tapped, call around to a lot of bike shops, you'll hear the prices vary a good deal. For me, the prices went from $10 to $30 to "uhhh how nice is your bike? We're only allowed to use that tool on nice bikes".

On second look-- JB weld the BB in, and then compress the whole deal via hose clamps. Then send pics.

its a soft tail mountain bike. Possibly the pivotless flex design had a little too much flex to be absorbed by just the chainstays. Considering i would want to beat the hell out of this bike, I think I'll pass on it. This is, however, another example of why I really wish I knew how to (and had the equipment to) weld.

considering the broken piece of the bb shell isnt even lined up (look at the huge gap at the threads) all the re-threading and thread chasing in the world wont make it work... its essentialy no longer round...
anyway, if the frame failed there it probably wasnt all that nice of a frame afterall...

Well, I imagine you can weld a crack in the original shell and retap it, but that hasn't been done with this one by the looks of it. The chainstays are trying to escape from the shell, and sooner or later they will succeed.
