just cut up a nice leather jacket from a thrift store and you can have leather whatever you'd like, plus leftover.

so now we can't even get secondhand stuff? come on...
on a similar(or, alternately, more evil) note, i got this ripped up fur coat from the goodwill yesterday. they can't sell fur, for some weird reason, because last time i tried to buy it they took it and said they were throwing it away. so this time i stole it, and i'm making a hat and mittens with fur on the inside....awesome.

I woudl assume its to protect the tube from the shoes that are swinging by every time they get on/off the bike. After all, one of the big advantages to frames built like that is the fact that you dont have to lift your leg as high to get on.
