Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

get a serving job. what else will pay you as well as serving and isn't a big deal if you quit in a month?

i tried every restaurant within a reasonable distance from my house and no dice. no where will hire someone with no serving / bussing experience.

delivering pizzas is my only option. i have a real efficient car ('04 honda civic) that i don't use nearly enough. i never claimed to be car-free, and i'll take any job i can get.

I'm not so sure if that would be acceptable in the eyes of pizza hut/dominos.

Cold, late pizza. Just the ticket to a big tip.

Thanks

I delivered for a few local pizza places by bike near my college campus. I tried to make sure they saw the bike, since that seemed to increase tips. A big national chain might not go for it... but I think it was sometimes much faster than car delivery. it just depends on how far you are going

You always have to lie to get your first waiting/bussing job if you don't have a friend that works there or something. Telling them you worked catering in another town is a good way to get around them wanting to know exactly where you worked, though there's not a lot of actual calling of references in the food service industry unless they're friends with management or owners at your last job.

all my delivering will be done in the suburbs, where i might have to ride forty-five minutes to deliver a pizza when i could have just hopped on the highway and got there in five in my car. i'm pretty sure i'll be able to do a good night's worth of delivering for ten bucks, cause that's usually what a good five hours of driving smoking pot costs in gas.

i'm going in on tuesday to talk money / pick hours with the boss. just think of how many porn-esque situations i'll get into with this job! way more than my other job making cheesesteaks at school i bet!

porn-esque is right. especially if it's a pizza with anchovies.
