Painting crankset for fixed gear
Hey out there! Does anyone know if it's OK to paint a crankset? I have a silver one I want to paint orange to match a frame I am building into a fixie. If anyone has done it, a short rundown of the procedure would be much appreciated!
Thanks! |
if you really wanna do it, sand, prime, paint a few coats, seal with a few coats of clear. that said, it's gonna chip or rub off really fast. yr better off getting them anodized.
and then even anodizing will rub off, for the most part. Have some gold Campags that are turning silver, yet have some black Race Face that are still as black as the day I bought them.
yeah. it's particularly problematic if you ride with clips and straps...
dont forget to paint in art nouveau patterns, and flying birds that look like crows.
Hmmmm, sounds like it may not be a very good idea
engraving is way cooler than painting, might as well just go for that.
You have a dremel right? |
Will the enamel still chip over time?
the enamel will distress in no time flat.

Just paint em'. You'll have to redo them from time to time but thats not a big deal, it's not like we're talking about the frame or something.
