'06 specialized langster - what fork?
 

i was thinking about putting a carbon fork on my langster
what do you guys recomend?

1_1/8, I would say on a personal scale, Ritchey WCS Carbon or what ever is in your budget.

IMO, carbon forks are overrated- you won't see much of an improvement in performance for the money that you drop on one..the money would be better off spent on wheels/drivetrain or contact points (seat,pedals,handlebars/tape/grips). Carbon forks really don't give that much bling for the buck..

They are also more fragile and susceptible to damage.

Don't know the general ride of the langster, but in general a carbon fork should be softening the blows from the road (potholes, cracks, etc.), while not compromising lateral stability - this definitely applies to my LeMond Filmore, and I think your bike may benefit in a similar way.

I just picked up a new Time 'Composite Advanced Technology" fork from the old shop for my project SS bike. I got it so cheap I could not resist.

in many cases this may be true, but speaking from experience, ANY carbon fork is heaven compared to the aluminum jackhammer that comes stock on the langster--at least on the 06 langster i had. but i hear you in general.

The 26" version might have a more road like axle to crown...

29" = 700c

not exactly. 29" (MTB)=700c rim with a fat, 2"- however big they get" tyres. 700c rims with road tyres (23c) easily fit into 26" suspension forks.
