Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Best place to find an old Bianchi frame?

i'm planning on building my first fixed-gear this winter and was hoping to find a vintage bianchi frame on the cheap. other than ebay, is there anyplace i should be looking? also, what sort of gearing should a first timer be looking at?

garage sales, thrift stores, craigslist, pawn shops (if you don't care about karma), used bike shops....

gearing: find a single gear combo you like on your multi-speed bike and buy fixed parts for something close to that.

Available Bianchis for cheap?
There's probably an alternate dimension you could look for one in.

I was lucky enough to score an old Bianchi frame and fork for free from a teacher.
