christmas funsies
opened some presents and discovered a new surly hub, new cog and lockring, and brooks saddle. 'twas just what i needed to get the beater beast back on the road after a horrifying hub-stripping incident. a short while later i had the new hub and spokes laced to the old rim and the saddle chopped and ready to go. may the fun begin!
and a close-up of the brooks after a quick chop:
i feel all happy and giddy. anyone else spend christmas playing with new bike goodies?

thanks for the complements on the chop. it was done via carpet-knife and sandpaper. i started using a dremel to sand the edges but it made the whole shop smell like burning cow ass so i decided it was probably overkill.
as for the stem, it's a nitto dynamic 80mm that i found collecting dust in a bucket of old threaded stems at work.
and i'm glad someone noticed the b-e-a-utiful space monkey spokecard. 'tis the only one i rock.
