Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Why is Dean so awesome?

Ok, I ride a Dean SS right now. The frame is about 10 years old, and I love it, but the paint is starting to peel, and after about 20,000 miles on the bike, I think it's time to get something new.

My question is. . .Why is Dean so awesome? Wherever I ride it, I always get compliments about it, and it is just set up with basic components (Singleator, Tange Steel fork, Rhino bars, stem, and cranks, etc.) Sure, it rides great, but I just don't have the money to get another one.

I've been debating building up a KHS Solo 1, the only thing that is really stopping me is the *bling* factor. Am I crazy?

dean is an oldschool Ti survivor. Any decade-old Ti monster like an Ibis, Merlin, or Dean is just plain sweet. If the frame is sound, strip and redecal. Or pm me with an offer

Really, I don't think you could buy a better frame, except for a new paint job.

You ready. . . It's STEEL!!!

There is some rust starting, and the waterbottle bosses are pulling out. There is a small kink in the top tube as well.
