So what are your recommendations for finding track frames in Tokyo? I am here now (live here) but the usual suspects (Punch, Carnival, ...) either don't have my size (Punch) or are super pricey (e.g. Carnival). Prices seem to have gone up a lot recently as well, even on yahoo auctions (japanese version).

EMT, I think the best (cheapest) option is the bike jumble sale, which I missed again this year. It's on twice a year - next one is in about 4 months. It's way out west of Tokyo on the banks of some river.

Deathhare knows the name of the place - I've forgotten it.

Paramounts were Schwinn's top of the line bike. Schwinn as we once knew them has gone under years ago, and Paramounts are collectors items now.

Oh, and anyone know this joker? Said he was from SF. And that's not his ride; he somehow got the shop owner to lend him his personal bike.

yeah, basically vintage track bike collector appeal or schwinn collector appeal... ornate nervex lugs (sometimes chromed), reynolds 531, usa made... it's my understanding that many paramounts were welded by women between the 1930's -80s. i outfitted mine with all japanese parts- eventually will be as much 1970s dura ace as possible (so far just cranks and hubs + front brake are) to keep it period correct
