Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

onetwentyeight - milano stem help

So I scored a great condition cinelli milano stem (not steep drop)...85mm. I got a seatpost shim that goes from 25.4mm to 26.4mm that I'm going to cut down and use as a handlebar shim - it's still in the mail so I don't know if it'll work yet. Anyway, the point is that my b125's wont fit in it because the clamp is the same width all the way around and it's too wide to get the tight curves through (unlike my Jaguar, where the clamp is narrower around the bottom to get around the curves). So ummm, what kinds of bars will fit in a milano stem? A cinelli track drop of the same vintage? A b123 perhaps? Or am I limited to my cheap risers? Or sell both stems and get a Jcoast custom stem? thanks.

older cinelli stems are 26.4, they switched to 26.0 in the late 90s. ive always just mated them to older cinelli track drops and had no problem. I have no experience getting nittos in there nor using shims. if you are having problems with getting around the curve, try using a screw driver to pry open the stem a bit as you work it around. sorry about the delayed reply, my job keeps me away from the computer these days.

fyi the aluminum cinelli track drops will work, and are easier to find/more affordable than the older steel ones.

Yeah, I like to keep things chrome, and I'm running the 36cm b125's...What's the narrowest I can get a cinelli track drop? 38? I think someone may have reported theirs as a 37 once....

Oooo, are you the guy that just tried to sell your crono wheelset on ebay? And is it the same wheelset that was on the pink maruishi, or is there more than one in existance?
