Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I live in Philly... Philly motorists are on their cellphones all day long!!! Heck! I even see COPS!!! on their cellphones driving!!!

If they want to enforce that, they are going to have to do some serious cracking down on those ton-wielding yakkers! Not that anyone should be on the road on anything with wheels while yakking, just that it is so common.

If that's the case, people shouldn't be walking and yakking, because it makes them walk as inefficiently as they drive!!

Most bills that are passed or proposed exempt emergency personal from talking on phones. There is some stuff that cannot be said over the radio, and if you cover a large area, radios in vehicles are completely crap in certain areas.

Lawmakers need to concentrate on car drivers first. I was not aware of a rising problem of cyclists crashing while on phones. Sure its not the smartest thing to do, but I've seen people do the DUMBEST **** while on cell phones while driving and on a bike. I work for an ambulance company in the Boston area and I've seen motorists blows right through stop signs like they weren't even there, turn the wrong way down one-way streets and just not paying attention. I even saw one guy today swerve around a person in a cross walk. Everytime I see something stupid, the driver had a cell phone glued to their head.

I don't even support hands free sets, since those seem just as distracting as without a hands free set. It gets pretty bad when accidents involving motorists with cell phones rival that of drunk drivers.

talking on a phone while riding is not that hard.

and face it, it's almost as cool to talk on your cell phone while riding with no hands as it is to light a cigarette in a skid.

Yeah, I really need to take up smoking just so I can be cool.

THANKS MASH! Way to raise the bar for AWESOME and make it hard on the rest of us!

Anybody figure out a way to use your Aerospoke to boost cell phone signal yet?

i saw a kid on a track bike talking on a cell phone the other day. he passed us (we were in an eeek... CAR!) and was headed toward the light. a car passed right in front of him and he did a little skid and rolled around back of them through the intersection. he didn't even lower the phone. it was ****ing slick!

My friend rides a fixie and smokes. I don't get it. When I'm blasting at 25mph I can barely catch my breath.

i used to have a hard time riding and talking on a two way when i mess'ed, and i never bothered to get a strap holder for my bag. after long enough i got used to it and i could ride, stop at a light, stand and then ride again all while talking.
but two ways were pertinent to work. i've never felt that a normal phone conversation was necesary while riding. if its important enough, i'll pull over anyway. ...unless i'm drunk and can't find the party.

if i'm biking somewhere and I need to talk to someoneabout the exact location of where we are meeting up or something like that I will talk on my cell-phone while riding. I don't love doing it, but I will if it is convienant.

If I have to talk on my phone I put it on speaker phone and prop it on my cellphone holder. Its almost like a fake two way.

I really want a verizon phone that has twoway-esque qualities.

Have your friend make fake "beep beep" messages at the end of every sentence. And make frequent use of cb codes.

"10-20 john *beep beep* I'm 10-19 *beep beep* I got a 10-64 heading your way *beep beep* Yea I'm 100 for 10-17, be there ASAP *beep beep* good luck getting through 909, I don't want another DB on my hands *beep beep*don't worry I'll 10-18 this *beep beep*.
