Built my first wheelset
And I think it's the hottest thing I've ever seen... NOS 32h DA 7600 laced 3x with DT revolution spokes and gold nipples to NOS Araya ct19n's... yum

Those wheels are like having sex while watching porn and drinking a milkshake.
Let's have some details of the build. Spoke prep? tensiometer?
I wanna know because I just picked up your wheels' weirdo cousins. Check this -
-24h Superbe Pro / Hoshi bladed spokes / grey Araya aero rims.
-Radial up front, radial non-drive / 1x tied and soldered drive side
-no spoke heads! instead, the spokes have an s-bend at the hub, I guess so that slots wouldn't have to be filed to accomodate the spokes
I'm thinking of tearing them down, relacing w. the same spokes to Velocity Fusions, keeping the radial up front, crow's foot in the back (need some 3x length spokes for the non-radial). Part vanity, part thriftiness/wastage minimization. in a perfect world, a box of Sapim CXRays would fall off the back of a truck outside my house.

Looks nice. Very classy. I have my first session of wheelbuilding class tomorrow night. I'm very excited.

Gorgeous wheels. I hope those nipples work out for you, I've had nothing but bad luck with alloy ones.

alloy nipples...a few stripped out on my first wheel build, i replaced them and kept truing...got the wheels nice and true and haven't had them on the stand since...i don't know...maso menos.
i made sure all the spokes were seated real well on the hub (bent them all down with my thumb)...that wheelset is holding up and i'm happy.
oh yeah, i got DT spokes from www.lickbike.com
i don't know what the spoke tension was, not too high (alloy nipples), i used one of the park "4 sided" spoke wrenches...

the gold nipple/gunmetal combo is money. i love it.
and screw what everyone else said. if they lose tension, they're obviously defective and you should send them to me for destruction.

I actually didn't check the tension. The dude walking me through it has been building wheels forever, and he just goes by feel. I've ridden a few wheels he's built, and many of my friends have as well, and they're always legit. I'm expecting to iron out some bobbles after some riding a bit, but that doesn't bother me. The process is pretty satisfying!

So my class actually started last night. I got the call from the instructor while I was on the way to pick up the hub. Ended up having to haul azz from West Seattle to Fremont to make it to class on time.
Good stuff. I was surprised to learn that alloy nipples don't suck now. I'm going to rebuild on one of my old rims with a Surly double fixed hub for practice. I have some brown Vs on order for my Miche hubs but they haven't made it in yet.
