Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You Finns sure are trusting. Though sometimes I forget that there are places in the world where people respect one another and their things.

Why would you post a photo of the whole bike then post equally crappy shots of the front part and the back part, from the same side, but not really significantly closer, so they don't reveal any additional details?

just askin....

It ain't mine, even though, for a brief moment, I thought it could have been: I pull out my FG red MTB about twice a week. Whereabouts are you? I am in Helsinki, Malminkartano.

The chainring made by Blackspire, a Canadian company.
They make excellent parts, you may have heard of them before,
It's a Track 144/46 1/8 inch.

Its at a higher angle, and it IS a lot closer...
And yes the noise is delicious.

I live in Turku, same place were if found the bike!

how you you lock that bike, with only that lock?
i normally just lock my rear wheel to the rear triangle... with a 1$ cable lock.

i was going to buy a pista from Helsinki but they didn't have my size, so i got a 20" wide for my machine lol.

Hrm, what an odd coinincidink, my SS winter commuter looks a lot like your conversion. Weird that we haven't bumped into each other.

Never been to Turku, yet. I do have it in my plans for the near future.

As for FG in Finland: I did meet a dude on a FG at the beginning of last summer. Had a short chat - he actually gave me a bit of an incouragement to try it myself.

Expecially because he was faster than me on our way downtown, even though I had gears, and I didn't think his leg muscles looked impressive compared to mine.

In the states, it's pretty important to lock your bike to something other than itself... people will take it otherwise.

At work I use two locks for my bike--- while half the people who work in my building don't lock their bikes up at all.... craziness.
