Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Is the Alleycat spectator-able?

Where is it and where will the finish and starting lines be?

I would like to check it out being that I'm not an experienced fixed rider.

February 10th has a cat and a kitten. They both start from Love at 3pm. See the rides and races forum and find the Feb. 10 Philly thread.

The kitten is totally friendly to out of towners and first timers. About 5 miles long. The start is spectator-able, the finish is spectator-able, but I can't tell you where it is until the race, and the after party is spectator-able. But I would push for you to race the kitten and have fun.

I can't speak for this weekends cat though.

I'll be the one running the sign up, handing out manifests and spoke cards for the kitten. At the very least, come say hi. I'm sure I can convince you to race.

More importantly, who's gonna have enough space for all her prizes after she wins the whole thing?!

you can ride any bike you want to ride, so long as it is a bicycle and not a motorized bike. ride a full suspension mountain bike for all we care. (one of the dc pirates rides one at alleycats, and he keeps up pretty well)

The rides and races thread. Your local bicycle messenger association may have info too.

Keep your ear to the forums.
