Windsor (not the Hour) Question
 

I'm looking to pick up a windsor track-pro. However I'm having trouble finding info on this bike, every time I do a search nothing but info on the "hour" comes up. Can anyone help me out with more information on this bike? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I've never seen a Windsor Track Pro, and it's not shown
on bikesdirect.com, so I think you're confusing it with
the Fuji Track Pro.

you're talking about the old made in mexico lugged steel Windsor track pro, right?

No No, I'm sorry I will clarify. I am talking about the mexican made windsor pro-track of the 70's. Its lugged and I believe its colmbus tubbing. Its suposedly a cinelli rip off. Sheldon has a paragraph that says the road bikes are so so, but then at the end he says the track bikes are great but never gives any reasoning behind it. I just wanna make sure this is a good bike that will last me a long time.

if the frame is in good condition - rust, dents, welds not coming apart - then yeah, it will last you a long time. i mean, it's come this far. that's the beauty of steel frames.

Apparently Marymoor velodrome in Seattle had a few of them as rentals, but has since sold them all off.

If its the vintage mexican ones you're after try emailing whoever it was that has one on FGG and see how they feel about it

I have one - see my velospace sig - where is what I found:

An executive left Cineli in the 70's and started Windsor in Mexico, using the same design, tubing, components, etc. The workmanship is not the greatest - some the drill holes in the lugs are slightly off center, but everything else is great. The bikes came with a full Campy Group and were relatively cheap, so people often bougth them for the components alone. I have seen some with Campy, Shimano and no name track ends. The bike that Eddie Merckx set a record on was not an actual Windsor - Windsor executives asked Merckx if we would rebadge his bike while in Mexico. EM did and set the record.

As far as the bike is concerned - I like it, but I only have road bikes to compare it with – I have not had other track bikes. It is all Columbus. Mine has the Shimano track ends, but due to my liking of Campagnolo, is outfitted with the Campy Pista Group. I have replaced my saddle and am now running boxed section tubulars instead of the deep v rims. I have not seen another Windsor track bike, but have seen different road frames of varying quality. The professional was their top line as far as I could tell.

A Mexican knockoff of an Italian bike with an English sounding name! I love it! Aside from it's international mongrel pedigree, it's also a very pretty bike.

I too am on a search for a lugged bike with tubbing.
