Powdercoating/Bike Painting in Philadelphia

I am wondering if anyone knows of places/people who paint bike in Philadelphia. I have contacted a few people but they are all very slow in their responses and haven't given me any specific details. Any help would be appreciated, and I'll delete the thread after the help.

Thanks!

Me too... I have tried but only one company got back to me... about $175 for frame and fork. Considering that I have seen posts here saying they got a PC job done for like $60, I find it too steep.

There is a company in NJ that does painting. A guy from Trophy Bikes told me about it. It was cheaper than the PC quote I got but I don't recall how much.

There's a guy advertising $125 for stripping and coating on Craigslist.

There is, but I emailed back and forth, and I've been waiting about a week now on a response giving me a time frame. That belinky guy wants 400 for a powercoat. Why can't there be any easy 50 dollar spots like there are in pittsburgh

Well, the guy works alone so I'm sure he's busy. I saw a fixie he did a job on and it was sweeet! A Puerto Rican Culture Theme.

Bilenky bikes are really nice. I've been to his shop. It's on a dead-end that looks like a dumpsite. I passed it a few times thinking that it wouldn't be in there. But $400 for a powdercoat? That's just ridiculous!

What I meant to say was: Try Manifest.

But in retrospect, the Spanish guy in Philly you were talking about just might be the guy who does Manifest.

I'm a little late to the party, but I've been talking to the Craigslist powdercoater for a few days. His name is Wyatt Dunn (267.760.0472). He's got a shop in Chester, but he transports the bikes from the city (so you don't have to go to Chester yourself, thank god.) It's $125 for the frame/fork/sandblast. I wanna do a two-tone frame/fork job, so it's about $50 more.

Also, I heard from a friend that Brian @ Bicycle Revolutions (4th & Bainbridge) has someone local he goes to. Call him.

fwiw I had my bike done by Wyatt, the craigslist guy. Total rip-off and the guy was a jerk off too, never answered my calls and took about TWO MONTHS to actually do it. The "argument" that he is busy is a joke... big powdercoat places that do large commercial stuff can even fit you in their schedule within a week. He also did not mask a few places logical to do so and dented my head tube.

There is a place west of Temple that does powdercoating, along with a place in Clifton Heights (down Baltimore Ave for awhile). The "spanish guy" is Santana and he is not painting currently.

I know Jserse has his bike done already, but what the heck.

My friend dropped off our frames today at Bonehead Performance (boneheadperformance.com). I can't attest to the workmanship yet, but they were recommended by Firehouse. They were easy to communicate with, turnaround time is a week or less (supposedly), and sandblasting/powdercoating a frame is $65 (plus half that or about $30 for a clearcoat). They're in Warminster so you have to take Philly Car Share or walk ~3 miles from the train station.

Got the bikes back today! (It didn't take that long to have them painted; we dropped them off and picked them up later than planned.) I don't have a digital camera -- I'll borrow one after I build the bike up, maybe -- but Bonehead did a good job. My only complaint is that they painted over the braze-ons for the rear cantilever brake (they left them unpainted on the fork so I don't know why they screwed that up), but it's something I can easily sand off. They were pleasant to deal with, and they called me when they found a tiny dent (my fault) to make sure that I was aware of it before and that they hadn't caused it. Total was $140 for frame and fork ($65 frame, $25 fork + 50% of that sum for a clearcoat). Recommended!
