Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Are you doing anything romantic for that special bike today?

I'm picking up my chocolate brown Deep V's today that have been on order for a month and spokes for the build. Then I'm gonna stash that **** in a corner and make dinner for the lady and I.

I'm about to head out rummaging for SS parts for my ex-lady before hopefully meeting up with a future-lady for a bike ride while dodging calls from the freshly ex-ed lady about helping her tune up her bike.

Whew.

I think I'll celebrate the light snow flurries of today by riding down to the river. The 20mph headwind coming back ought to be so refreshing.

All my bikes are staying in the closet except for my snow bike. I guess God loves my snow bike because he gave us a big dumping of snow last night. So it gets to be its true self, and will be satisfied that I didn't hit it or yell at it today.

i bought an 06 bianchi san jose to smash around town on. Most of my track bikes are gone. I'm left with my merckx road, and a couple secret track projects. So, the projects will get lists of parts for them!

This morning I cranked my bike up Thermal Drive in Coquitlam BC (famous for being the most difficult climb negotiated by Canadian transworld-charity-wheelchair-tourer Rick Hansen) to get to the flower store.

New bars, new cranks, new saddle. Clean everything and repack bearings (most of that done last night). Fix and retrue front wheel then check tension on both wheels with my new tensiometer. Cook it dinner (pan-seared salmon on leafy greens), a bubble bath with massage, then sweet, sweet love for the rest of the evening. Speaking of which, anyone know how to get grease stains out of satin sheets?

ha! yeah right. you're gonna spend half the night wrestling those straps on, and the other half going to bed early cause you overexerted yourself trying to get the straps on.

I am watching Fishing With John on DVD and drinking beer.

My bike is leaning against the couch.

Perhaps we'll hang out later.

I spent some time with my bike and a bottle of Bike Lust. Now I'm sitting here eyeing a bottle of red wine and some french bread.
