I'm told that they aren't. But I just looked at both and they sure do look alike.

the basic point is that if you search for reviews of novatec, dimension, formula, velocity, or iro hubs, you will all get the answer you are looking for, because they are all the same hubs.

No they are not

Formula = velocity, IRO, Harris
Novatec = Nashbar, dimension, milwaukee, Soma

but yeah, you're right about the searching

How's the Nashbar hub? I only see this one.

Should I pick that up and a disk brake mount cog? Or is there a better and cheaper solution?

nashbar had a set of high flange hubs (obviously the same as the others mentioned). heres the front, they don't seem to have the rear anymore but for a while they were really cheap.

Is there mid-range for hubs? Seems like it goes straight from formula to phil, unless you pull some out of a track group like miche or dura-ace

D-A's are pretty danged high end. Mid-range: I'd say Surly, Dia-compe, maybe Suzue Pro-Max, and Miche. Anything past those and you are well into the $300 hubset territory.

They don't drill any in 28h. Does anyone know where I can get a 28h rear for ~$100 that can stand up to some road time trials and rides? These look great, but only 32 and 36. Just your basic alloy hub shell with a couple of cartridge bearings thrown in

28h formulas are around, but hard to track down. There seem to be more built up than loose, but call around to some major shops and you might get lucky. Yellowjersey has them on their website, but it's not very up to date.
