Sugino 75 + UN53 68x107 + IRO Hubs

Will this combo result in a good chainline? I've done some searching around and that seems to be the general consensus... if you can't afford the Sugino 75 BB.

Good? Bad? Any advice?

i run the same setup - except i use the UN73 hollow spindled version. my chainline is dead on.

some people burn through these bb's in 3 months. i've had mine for 2 and it's still like new.

Thanks. What's the benefit of the hollow spindle? Weight?

Which, for you new viewers watching at home means that you can adjust the chain line +/- ~2.5mm to the left or right.

sugino 75+un53 107+iro hub+eai cog. this is exactly what i'm running the the chainline is off by about .5mm, just make sure you use a torque wrench on the cranks, otherwise the cranks won't seat fully, and your chainline will be off by more than .5mm

If your chainline is off by .5 mm, you are taking your life in your hands.

I am planning on running 75's with a un72 and suzue promax hubs. I haven't heard anything from anyone as to why not. Been running a un52 on the beater and that is the only thing that is still running smooth years later.

Phil Wood doesn't make cogs. Furthermore, Phil Wood is run by Shimano with extra special amounts of child labour. Child labour that hates fixed gear bikes ... and you.

Edit: sorry for the confusion earlier on. My reading comprehension failed me rather spectacularly.

Yeah, make sure to Conan that crankset on. Scoot it all the way up on the taper, and if it's not touching the bottom bracket shell then you are a shtty bike mechanic!

If youre gonna spend the money on the 75 cranks, why not get the 75 bottom bracket? Running kick ass cranks and a BB that wont last long doesnt add up.

how are we getting this figure of the chainline difference only being 0.5mm the bb spindle on the 75 is 109mm if you use a 107mm without a spacer you chainline will be off by 2mm if you use a spacer it might not clear the frame on the non drive side

Doesn't the difference between 107mm and 109mm bottom bracket add up to only a 1mm difference on each spindle, not 2mm? In that case it'd be off by 1mm, not 2mm.
