130 bcd zen messenger chainrings?

I noticed that there's a Sugino RD Messenger crankset combo that comes with a 130 bcd zen messenger ring. Anyone know if the ring can be bought separately?

edit:

maybe not unless something has changed since https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-211504.html

that's the same price as the zen messenger, the 144 bcd version... perhaps it's a mistake?

I was thinking of getting the stronglight crankarms and one of those rings.. doesn't seem like it'd be a bad match.

at least from the photo, it looks as though it's not branded with the ZEN name. so there's Zen track (144bcd, 1/8"), Zen Messenger (144bcd, 3/32"?), and also Zen (130bcd, 3/32"?). Probably just another product, not a typo.

Thought there might be some additional differentiation between the Zen Messenger and the plain Messenger besides the BCD. Just a speculation on my part, though.

I ordered the crankset awhile back and they finally came, and while I was waiting I got the ring at the LBS. I went in asking for a cheaper 130 bcd chainring and the guy suggested the messenger. I got a good deal on it, and it's a hell of a lot sturdier feeling than the POS used rings I've been using since going SS. Can't wait till I get the rest of the parts I'm waiting on, and for the final touches on the new rear wheel I started building tonight.

i posted about this last year, but when trying to find them to order, they were only shipping with those RD cranksets. are these available by themselves now? if so, holla!

zen messenger is a more econmoical version of the zen ring... both are ****ing solid.

ha! so it definitely isn't a mistake... interesting

good news for people who don't want to get rid of their 130 cranks, but want a nicer chainring!

I wonder if I can get the chainring for free from universalcycles? When I searched for sugino messenger, it brought up two choices, one for $0 and one for $56. I clicked on $0, saw the chainring I wanted was in stock, added it to my cart and it let me do it. I wonder if they'd catch it if I submitted the order?
