Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? *@#&ed up dream

So I had a dream last night where I was coming home, and going down this long hill. Suddenly, I realize I'm coasting. I coast down the hill and jump the curb into this guy's yard to stop, and take a look, expecting a broken chain or stripped threads or something. Instead, I see that my derailleur is sticking out at a weird angle. My derailleur?

What does this mean?

It means you were riding a 'regular' bike.

If you had a derailleur, you were running gears. If you were running gears, you would have been coasting.

I was still brakeless, though. Also, there was still only the one cog in the back. So I could have been SS, but brakeless? And I've never ridden SS.

I had a dream about breakfast cereal pieces/bits with superpowers. Well, I don't know if they were super per se, but they had little capes and one of them [a Shreddie] had a staff [like a bo staff]. They looked pretty tough. Did I mention this dream was in an animated sepiatone? It was, sort of like a fuzzy Squigglevision. There were no bikes in my dream.

I was watching Doctor Who tonight, and it had Darleks and Cybermen. I know! I'll report on any dreams, particularly those involving SS/FG bikes.

It means that if you ever run a geared bike brakeless, you won't actually crash but wind up in someones garden

I had a dream the other night I worked at a bike store, and they were having a huge sale at midnight, and we had to move like 2000 bikes out of the store onto this big weird rock island that stuck out of this pond or lake that was nearby. later I think I figured out the rock was really the back of some giant sea beast.

damn - so did you get to claim that on your insurance? That type of fiasco could put small stores under.
