Riding a bicycle with a fixed drivetrain doesn't mean it's a track bike.

I don't know if they were in your mouth but they were certainly on your keyboard.

Hmmm, well, IMO, it wouldn't take much to fix it. Add clips, straps. Fix the posturing on the bike ... raise seat (looks like the seat post is backwards, too, but hard to tell). And that is pretty much it from a functional standpoint.

If it were my bike (this stuff is more of a matter of opinion), I'd throw on a front brake (that Aerospoke APPEARS to have machined sidewalls ... but again hard to tell), retape the handlebars, flip the stem ... unless its a quill stem ... hard to tell again ... but it appears to have a small frame in any case and I hate riding so upright. Remove all the toolage in the back and throw it in my messenger bag.

Okay so maybe those are a lot of changes.

I agree that a lot of these bikes are terrible, ultimately, and I guess the fact that they could be fixed in short order doesn't really matter in the context of this conversation.

So maybe just ignore what I said.

you're entirely missing the point of this thread. this isnt the "guys, how can we improve these bikes?" thread.

    Obviously.

I was just going along the line of reasoning Jabba put forth suggesting that these bikes are generally rideable or would be with one or two modifications.

Tangential ... sure. But whatever. Like that's never happened before here, right?

dont bother. no one reads this thread to hear your opinions about how these bikes can be improved.

we read this thread for kicks and to make fun of stuff.

post a jackass bike or GTFO.

Coz I am (edit: was*) on an iPhone?

EDIT: To clarify, I thought it was possible I was missing the screws coz they might have been painted over ... since everything appears to be painted over. And it is supposed to be a tarck poseur bike also, someone could easily botch a stem installation like that, considering everything else we've seen.

I think you may have found a bike that this thread can use to come together. It needed a good jackass bike to re-bond as fellow cyclists.

Is that "toptube protector" even far enough back to prevent the bars from hitting? Perhaps he/she doesn't understand the original purpose.

Turn the seatpost around and move the tt protector for a start. The wheels are another matter. Part of me wants to believe he had them laying around waiting for a project. Another, more sensible part of me doesn't believe for a minute that anyone who would set up a bike like that has parts like that just laying around. If it were me, I'd sell the wheels and go laced. Other than that, the only thing that would prevent me from riding it is the lack of a front brake.

the sad part is ...that above bike has expensive components...pengy was just haggard

that saddle on the blue bike is a concor sprint which could easily sell for 200+...
