DC to Philly

Whats the easiest way (without a car) to get ones bike to Philly from DC and back. I need to do something, and I'm thinking about heading to Philly early in the morning, having breakfast, riding a little, lunch, riding a little, dinner, riding a little, get drunk, ride a little, and then get home.

I see lots of Philly people here, and lots of DC people there. You guys train, bus, or drive?

Chinatown Bus will let you take a bike. They fit standing up underneath the bus, unless you are really tall.

Same bus that Queerpunk linked to. You might need to drop your seat to fit it, I ride a 54 and left my seat up, locked the bike to the side of the under thigy so it wouldn't fall.

When you gong up there? I'm making that trip next Wed.

I was thinking random Friday Saturday or Sunday. If the train works out I might do that. It's more expensive, but I can come back at the end of the day, and not have to spring for a hotel

Amtrak has kind of odd bike restrictions.

Called am track. you have to box the bike up. They don't have any racks. I'm guessing this is complete disassembly?.....Not to bad maybe, except the peddles

Ha ha - I say the exact opposite, I think. Which one is Today's Bus? That is the one that I have found to reek of feces less often, and by default became my favorite.

if you have a wrench with you, take off your pedals.
lower your saddle and it will fit like a glove vertically underneath the bus.

you dont even need to worry about vertical blah blah blah.

step 1: wait for most people to get their isht into that "under bus" compartment
step 2: lock bike wheel to frame (optional)
step 3: lay your bike right ontop of all that great padded luggage
step 4: hop on and chill

Use Washington Deluxe if it goes to philly. The first (and only) time I took Apex (Today's?) we got stranded for 3 hours just outside Baltimore waiting for someone to change our shredded (as in almost gone) tire. This was after the driver drove on a non existent tire for about half an hour, until a trooper made him pull over.

Edit- Deluxe only goes to NY, but it's the best option for NY.
