Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Six months? A year? See how many of those are still on the road,
riding true five or ten years down the road, and compare that to a
well-built set of traditional wheels. Further, when it does go out of
true, which it will, what do you do with it? You have a $250 paper-
weight. Truing aside, it's been widely reported here and elsewhere
that the rear track Aerospoke is a bonafide piece of **** that strips
easily. If plastic wheels are so durable, then why have BMXers and
mountain bikers (riders who "punish" their wheels far more than you
could fathom riding around Portland streets) entirely abandoned them?

The fact is, Aerospokes are considerably heavier, more expensive,
and less durable than a traditional wheel. You can pretend that you
want one because it's "strong as hell," but you really want one
because it's fashionable.
I never said I wanted one, I merely said it makes more sense from a street-perspective to have the rear one. I wasn't aware of the stripping issue.

They are great wheels, I have ridden my friends Obermayers and god they are stiff, but they ran that test against a lot of low profile wheels that aren't aerodynamic. There is a better test, but I can't be arsed digging it up.
back to topic, aerospokes suck ass.

All douchbaggery aside, I used to have an Aerospoke rear and no I can't say it felt all that much different during skids than most other spoked wheels. I will say that it was a bit more difficult to accelerate but also more aerodynamic at high speeds.

and i apologize to the OP for not accurately answering any of your questions, but if you get an aerospoke...y'know, call me.

*quacker! what's the deal in bed/stuy tonight?!
A errorspok is actually the same weight as a full deep wheelset man. They are by no means light at all or even " a little heavier then what you have". Just FYI

aerospokes aren't aero. what you felt was the momentum of a heavier wheel giving off a flywheel effect.

I fractured one of these when I hit some uneven pavement at low speed. Not a very pleasant experience.

I don't understand why everyone keeps talking about the looks as if they're a point in favour, I think an Aerospoke looks about as cool as a sheep's assh0le.
