Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Big difference between pseudo lofts and real lofts. Real lofts are at least attempts at reclaiming obsolete and abandoned warehouse buildings, things of that nature. Many are designed with as much energy efficiency and recycled product as possible.

Fake lofts are the suck, real lofts are pretty cool

condo's are teh worst . . . there are too many new startups in boston, all with convenient parking.

Swing Kids are an old Emo[back when Emo didn't sound like Boy/verb/noun, or any hot topic sponsored crud] band from the 90's, that incorporated a little of swing/jazz music in their songs.... I think?

woo hoo, i finally saw my first track bike in the area of lofts i near where i live!!!

since for the life of me i couldn't see the connection of trackbikes with lofts.

other than my neighbor being a former messenger, but he didn't ride fixed so maybe that doesn't count either-

more in the "emo-core" category than anything, resembling contemporary hardcore (basing this assumption on the website, "what the heck is emo anyways?"). for the jazz/swing thing, you might be thinking about indian summers use of blues samples instead?

man
you guys think about this stuff too much. It was probably some graphic designer who downloaded 3 stock images from a website and, like 90% of the people looking at these places, doesn't even know what a fixed gear is. I don't like all the shoe-box condos going up around my city, either, but in my opinion I'd rather see a banner with a picture of a bike on it than a picture of a big-ass hummer on it.

Less offensive if...

Would this pic be less offensive if it was a freewheeler? If we pretend it is a freewheel maybe we can debate brakes again.

Who cares? Plus, is $700 a month supposed to be expensive? You can't rent a toilet in Southampton for that, never mind London. You people don't know you're born.

It's an English saying, normally used by older people when kids are complaining about not having the latest X Box game. For instance "When I were a lad, we had to play with sticks and stones, and we were thankful for them! You kids today, you don't know you're born....."

I'm implying that if you think $700 (or £350) a month rent is expensive, you either live in some sort of fantasy world, or in your parents bedroom.

while on either coast of the US that's not bad rent for a city apartment, in the midwest that would be crazy expensive. rent there is so ****ing cheap it's not fair. then again, it is the midwest.

I've met people in ****ty midwestern towns (that meaning anything that's not the twin cities, milwaukee, madison, or chicago essentially) that pay plenty for ****ty places.

My "1 bdr" loft that i share with my girlfriend is 852/month, 966 sqft. Then again, it's rent controlled low income housing for artists.
