I don't believe a quick release axle would be long enough to use track nuts.

If these are cup and cone hubs, then buy solid axles to replace the hollow QR ones. They are $10 for nice cromoly steel ones at my LBS. The guy there told me front ones are usually 9mm. Rear ones are usually 10mm. Don't know how much truth is in that. The 9mm ones have worked for me on the front hubs of 2 bikes. I haven't had to do the conversion on a rear wheel yet.

there are bolt-on skewers that you can get and use, if you don't feel like replacing yr axle.

I don't know why or care why you want to put solid axles on road hubs but it is not hard. The front should be 9mm and the rear 10mm as squeaky stated. Getting the correct length is the tricky part. If you know the width of your rear drop outs that helps.

THIS should help you out

I am pretty sure all ShimaNO hubs are cup and cone

Sorry, axle length is not critical for going to solid axles. The length is critical for going from soild axles to QR axles.

If you want to change the spacing on the hub, you may have to add or remove spacers.

If you can replace bearings in a hub, you can change the axle out.

the cheapest way would be to replace only the hollow qr axle with a solid nutted type

the easiest way would be to replace only the qr skewer with a bolt-on hex socket (allen key) skewer

thanks, everybody. I just want to get rid of the QR-ness, so I have 2 wheels that aren't stolen. Pitlocks or a similar product may be the way to go.
