Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Pondering pedals...

Does anyone have experience with spd/platform pedals like these?

I'd like clipless on the fixie for when I go out riding, but it's also my commuter and I'd rather not wear bike shoes all day and it doesn't seem worth it for a 3 mile commute to wear bike shoes and carry another pair.

Maybe it would be easiest to just get out the wrench and switch the pedals out with my roadie when I want clipless.

I have them on my fixie and think they're the bee's knees. Much better than busting knuckles as a pre-ride routine....

Riding platforms on a fixed gear is kinda silly unless your just cruising around real flat sections. And for sure don't try it with out a brake.

the thing is, it's not such a good idea to ride pedals without some sort of retaining system on a fixed gear..
so are you really going to be riding around on the clipless side with toe clips scraping the ground all the time ?

these might make more sense for you.. they are an entire platform + toe clip/strap that clips into your spd pedals:

i've never tried them so i have no idea if they work...
